Simartis Announces eSIM Certification Milestone
Project title: Research and development, qualification, certification, testing and preparation for commercial launch of the project “Intelligent Connectivity 5G / IoT Services Platform–eSIM, OTA–HTTP, DM–IoT”
[Gulia, Dambovita, Romania, June, 2023] – SC Simartis Telecom SRL, a dynamic and innovative provider of telecommunication solutions for global telco market, is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Security Accreditation Scheme for Subscription Management (SAS-SM) by the GSM Association (GSMA), confirming its position among the selected few providers of such secure solutions. This certification follows the successful completion of the Dry Audit from the first try for the Simartis’s eSIM RSP solution, the Virtual Subscription Management (VSM).
Simartis can now work for mobile operators supporting their eSIM deployments with the highest level of operational security, functionality, and interoperability in compliance with SAS-SM Standard v3.2 and the SAS Consolidated Security requirements v9.2 with certified Data Center Operations and Management, Subscription Management and Data Preparation+.
The successful team effort has ensured that the company takes a major step forward in the implementation and contribution to eSIM technology, bringing it one step closer to delivering seamless connectivity and enhanced user experiences to its customers and, consequently, to mobile users all over the world.
The eSIM RSP solution, now certified by GSMA, strengthens the product portfolio, making Simartis’s product portfolio, alongside OTA SIM and Automatic Device Management solutions, a very compelling proposition to MNOs and MVNOs all around the world.
For the Virtual Subscription Management (VSM) to comply with the world-class security requirements specified by the GSMA SAS-SM accreditation, Simartis’s eSIM solution architecture relies on the usage of dedicated Hardware Security Module (HSM) and base of the Root of Trust mechanism to securely store network sensitive data. To achieve this, Simartis successfully partnered up with Entrust, a global leader in trusted identity, payments and data, implementing a fully redundant software and hardware secure solution in our datacenter in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The eSIM VSM product was developed within the project: Research and development, qualification, certification, testing, and preparation for the commercial launch of the project “Platform for Intelligent Connectivity Services 5G / IoT – eSIM, OTA – HTTP, DM – IoT”, code SMIS 130057, under financing contract no. 38/221_ap2/05.06.2020, concluded with the Romanian Digitalization Authority, Intermediate Body for POC Priority Axis 2 – “Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for a competitive digital economy”, Specific Objective 2.2. “Increasing the contribution of the ICT sector to economic competitiveness”, Action 2.2.1 “Supporting the increase in added value generated by the ICT sector and innovation in the field through the development of clusters”.

During the period June 2020 – November 2023, Simartis implemented the co-financed project from the European Regional Development Fund through the Operational Program Competitiveness 2014–2020. The total value of the project is 11,510,475.66 RON, of which the non-reimbursable financing value from ERDF is 6,458,604.89 RON.
The general objective represents the research, design, and implementation of a platform for managing compatible eSIM devices called eSIM RSP, as well as functional updates, with innovative elements for OTA SIM and Device Management platforms.
The results obtained: Simartis obtained in the Security Accreditation process for Subscription Management (SAS-SM) by the GSM Association (GSMA), the first certification for the eSIM RSP ecosystem. In parallel, technologically, and functionally updated versions of complementary OTA SIM and Device Management platforms were implemented to serve the eSIM ecosystem.

Titlul proiectului: Cercetare și dezvoltare calificare, certificare, testare și pregătire de lansare comercială proiect ,,Platforma de servicii pentru Conectivitate Inteligentă 5G/IoT – eSIM, OTA – HTTP, DM – IoT”
SC Simartis Telecom SRL, un furnizor inovator de soluții de telecomunicații, a primit certificarea eSIM pentru Schema de Acreditare de Securitate pentru Managementul Abonamentului (SAS-SM) de către Asociația industriei de comunicații mobile GSMA. În momentul de față există doar patru furnizori la nivel global care au primit certificarea eSIM de tip “Dry audit”, Simartis reușind să obțină din prima certificarea pentru soluția eSIM, Virtual Subscription Management (VSM).
Simartis va putea oferi operatorilor de telefonie mobilă care susțin implementările eSIM, cel mai înalt nivel de securitate operațională, funcționalitate și interoperabilitate, în conformitate cu standardul SAS-SM și cu cerințele de securitate consolidată SAS, cu operațiuni certificate pentru centre de date și Management, Gestionarea abonamentului și Pregătirea datelor.
Efortul de succes al echipei a asigurat că Simartis face un pas major în implementarea și contribuția la tehnologia eSIM, aducând-o cu un pas mai aproape de furnizarea de conectivitate perfectă și experiențe îmbunătățite pentru utilizatorii clienților săi și, în consecință, utilizatorilor de telefonie mobilă din întreaga lume.
Soluția eSIM VSM, certificată acum de GSMA, întărește portofoliul de produse, oferind prin portofoliul de produse Simartis, alături de OTA SIM Manager și soluțiile de gestionare automată a dispozitivelor (Device Management System), o ofertă competitivă pentru operatorii de telefonie mobilă și pentru operatorii virtuali din întreaga lume.
Pentru ca soluția Virtual Subscription Management (VSM) să respecte cerințele de securitate de clasă mondială specificate de acreditarea GSMA SAS-SM, arhitectura soluției eSIM de la Simartis se bazează pe utilizarea modulelor dedicate de securitate hardware (HSM) și mecanisme sigure pentru stocarea în siguranță a datelor sensibile ale rețelei. Pentru a realiza acest lucru, Simartis a încheiat cu succes un parteneriat cu Entrust, lider mondial în furnizarea soluțiilor de securitate HSM, implementând o soluție de securitate software și hardware, oferind astfel o soluție completă pentru Data Center-ul din Cluj-Napoca, România.
